This afternoon, the UCLA men’s basketball team will host the UC Berkeley Golden Bears at Pauley Pavilion. Tip-off is at 1 pm PT.
We guarantee a win today. This has nothing to do with new coach Murry Bartow, or Steve Alford for that matter. This has everything to do with an historically awful UC Berkeley team. I am quite confident any reader of Bruins Nation could come out of the stands and “coach” UCLA to win over UC Berkeley.
Not only is UC Berkeley in last in the Pac-12 with a losing record coming out of non-conference play, but, in Ken Pom, they are ranked number 208, behind such powerhouses as Cal Baptist. They are epically bad on defense where they are ranked 324 out of 353 teams. As the Pac-12’s rep in the China game this year, they got blown out by Yale. They also lost to Fresno State by 22 and are coming off a loss to a bad Southern Cal team that is 8-6.
It was the perfect time to fire Alford during the season because this is the easiest start to Pac-12 play in our history. On Thursday, ESPN flashed a stat on how the Pac-12 in December had the worst win-loss record for a major conference in recent history during a month in the non-conference portion of the season. And, Berkeley is the worst of the Pac-12. Stanford was bad. Berkeley is awful and would be a lock to go 0-18 most seasons in the Pac-12.
Go Bruins!!!
