BOOM! Ron Robinson Commits to the Bruins!

Three star safety Ron Robinson out of Santiago HS in Corona jumped on the Bruin bandwagon and committed to UCLA today.

Brendan Maloney-US PRESSWIRE

Three star safety Ron Robinson became the first player to commit to the Bruins on the defensive side of the ball. Robinson plays for Santiago HS in Corona, and is an impressive 6’2 195 lbs. The staff signed two big safeties in Tyler Foreman and Tahaan Goodman last year, and its pretty clear that the staff prefers big bodies in the back end of the defense, and Robinson definitely fits that mold. Robinson’s stature may also allow him to play the "mini-backer" role that UCLA likes to play in nickel situations, which is essentially a hybrid safety-linebacker.

Robinson’s three star status may not impress folks, but he apparently received rave reviews during the UCLA camp and earned his offer. Robinson’s offer list isn’t large or impressive, but he looks like he fits Spanos’ defense well.

Robinson’s commitment is the fourth of the class, joining wide receivers Barry Ware, Jordan Lasley, and Austin Roberts. We’ve obviously got a long way to go until signing day, as evidenced by the recent commitments of the two JUCO offensive lineman, but its nice to see a commitment on the defensive side of the ball. Just so you know, it may not be the last of the week. Here are some highlights of Robinson:

Welcome to Westwood, Ron!

Go Bruins!
