The Bruins are prepping for Kansas State, while the coaches are hoping that a big week for UCLA recruiting targets results in at least one new commit for next fall - as waivingbruin noted yesterday, 5* receiving prospect Christian Kirk chose to become one of a cast of several elite wideouts at Texas A&M rather than become the first elite WR/RB to commit to the Mora regime.
Friday morning will see two more priority recruiting targets announce their college choices. 5* LB Malik Jefferson and 4* LB/WR DeAndre McNeal will be making their commitment announcements early in the AM from their school in Mesquite, TX. Jefferson is the consensus #1 linebacker in this years class and the best player in Texas. ESPN has a story walking through the final month before Malik's decision, now narrowed down to UCLA, Texas and Texas A&M. The folks at Burnt Orange Nation sadly feel that he will be headed to College Station, but don't have a clue of McNeal's leaning.
Chris Foster's Thursday story on the Bruins looks at the low key personality of Paul Perkins, who would rather share the praise for his breakthrough season with the guys blowing open the holes than bask in it himself.
But asking Perkins about his performance only draws his praise for the offensive line. He talked so much about them this season that a reporter requested he not use the words, "offensive line" before one media session.
Perkins smiled and said, "then you can't use '1,000 yards.' "
