BOOM! Throw some fours up!
Proud to say I've just committed to UCLA! #4sUP pic.twitter.com/KLBQG9t5dA

Congratulations, Coach Demetrice Martin.
Samuel is a 6'3", 180 pound DB out of Long Beach Poly. He picked UCLA over a long list of schools, including Michigan and Oklahoma, where he was just out at an official visit over the weekend. Rivals has him as a 4 star, scout as a 3 star.
According to an interview with Bruin Sports Report (not behind the firewall as of this writing) Samuel was over the recruiting process and wanted to commit. What also helped? The fact that UCLA is close to home and Coach Martin really charmed his mother and sold her on the school, which we all know is very easy to do - UCLA sells itself.
Samuel's size is intriguing - a nice long CB who had a very good senior year. According to Scout, he runs well and has improved his flexibility and how he plays in space over the past year. He only had offers from smaller schools earlier this year but received a flurry of offers in the last couple of days. Also on Samuel's agenda: recruiting his fellow classmate Iman Marshall, with whom he is close.
View his 2014 highlights here via his Hudl. Learn a little more about Samuel in this feature in the Long Beach Gazette, as his coach describes a soft spoken kid who is "nasty" on the field. You can view his 2013 highlights from Alemany, his previous school before transferring to Poly.
Welcome to Westwood!
Go Bruins!
