UCLA Offensive Coordinator Noel Mazzone was supposed to present an award at last night's end-of-the-season football banquet. He wasn't present. Instead, according to uclaluv who attended last night's banquet, Coach Mora simply said that he had somewhere else to be. He didn't announce that there was an emergency or anything else.
But, tonight, new details are emerging.
In the free Football forum on Bruin Report Online, Tracy Pierson wrote a post titled "Noel Mazzone is in the ICU" that Noel Mazzone "was admitted to a hospital ICU for a blood clot in his lung."
Meanwhile, Zach Helfand of the LA Times quotes a UCLA spokesman:
Coach Mazzone is resting comfortably, in good spirits and looking forward to getting back with the team as soon as possible.
Pierson's post added that Kennedy Polamalu is serving as acting offensive coordinator while Coach Mazzone recovers.
Bruins Nation wishes Coach Mazzone a speedy recovery.
Go Bruins.
