Bruins Head to the NFL: UCLA Football - NFL Draft Open Thread, Round 1

This weekend anxious and excited Bruin football players will take their next first step towards achieving their NFL dreams. Join with other Bruin fans to watch and discuss the draft as it unfolds, beginning Thursday, April 30th at 5 pm UCLA Time.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Today will be the first round of the 2015 NFL draft. I know I will have the TV on and listen to the talking heads tell me what is going to happen, half believing it, until it doesn't. I will do this over and over again, waiting out the long 10 minutes each team has to pick its next player. Normally I do this rather casually, but as the first round gets to about the half way point I will give more attention as I hope to hear some of our Bruins, namely Brett Hundley, Eric Kendricks and Owamagbe Odighizuwa, have their names called. Tomorrow and Saturday my ear will be triggered by the names Anthony Jefferson, Ellis McCarthy, and Malcolm Bunche as well. Speculation always runs rampant on draft day, and can be difficult to "block out the noise" and wait for the future to unfold. So ...

The smart teams that select Brett, Eric, and Owa today or tomorrow, will be getting incredible men both on and off the field, who will work hard and smart and who will bring more than great talent to their teams. To prepare yourself for today's events, check out IE Angel's NFL Draft preview and catch up on the latest about our Bruins who are going pro.

So how are our Bruins feeling?

(And here's another nice read about Eric carrying on the family business.)

Our leader, classy as ever:

Some well wishes from teammates and others:
