The Packers select UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Congratulations to a great Bruin!

BOOM! UCLA QB Brett Hundley has been selected by the Packers in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. Most of the so-called "draft gurus" has Hundley as the third best quarterback in the draft behind the duo of Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston. But, as the draft approached, Hundley's draft stock seemed to slip as many started to predict that he could drop. And, sure enough, he ended up falling to the fifth round.

At 6'3" and 255 lbs. with a 4.63 40-yard dash, Brett has a good combination of size and speed. According to his NFL Combine profile, his biggest weaknesses as he adjusts to the pro game are:

[His i]nternal clock is a mess. Has marginal anticipation, and appears to be lacking in ability to read defenses and create a pre-snap plan. Slow getting through progressions, taking 125 sacks in three years.

Because of this, many scouts see him as a potential project at QB rather than as an immediate starter. One AFC scout said, "Someone will draft him, but I don't think he will ever be a starter. He can't read coverages and struggles to process. It is going to take a few years before he looks like a backup in my opinion. He has a long way to go."

Maybe, if he had received better coaching, he wouldn't have had to rely on his pure athleticism while he was at UCLA.

Of course, we've gotten to know Brett's work habits and how hard he works and is willing to learn. I'm certain that Brett will take statements like that as a challenge to work even harder and prove his detractors wrong.

The NFL published a Brett Hundley highlight reel to YouTube. Enjoy!

Go Bruins!!!
