After a huge weekend for the UCLA football team, check out What's Bruin this week in the world of UCLA sports.
Football Recruiting
Bruin Sports Report takes a look at the top five uncommitted recruits in the west region, including elite wide receiver recruit, Theo Howard, who visits UCLA this weekend. The BSR piece also looks at two verbal commits--one from UCLA and one from Southern Cal--who may be looking elsewhere. Spoiler alert: of the seven guys, BSR thinks five would sign with UCLA if National Signing Day was today. At the time of this writing, the BSR piece was not behind a subscription firewall.
Football
Kenny Young was not happy about his tackling or the defense's overall performance last Saturday, as reported by Chris Foster of the L.A. Times.
ESPN analysts, Paul Finebaum and Danny Kanell, debate whether the PAC 12 is the best conference in college football.
In the getting-way-too-far-ahead department, Kanell also thinks that UCLA has a better chance than PAC 12 South foe, Utah, to make the College Football Playoff.
Women's Volleyball
With the big win in football, you might have missed that the UCLA Women's Volleyball team scored a win in straight sets over UC Berkeley at Haas Pavallion last Sunday, to even their record at 1-1 in the PAC 12.
Men's Soccer
Last Sunday, with their season on the brink, trailing UC Irvine 3-0 in the 69th minute, and playing with only ten men, the UCLA Bruins Men's Soccer team somehow managed to rally, scoring the tying goal with 10 seconds left in regulation and winning, 4-3, on a golden goal in overtime. Hopefully this will be the spark to turn Coach Salcedo's 4-4 squad around as they enter PAC 12 play.
That's it for What's Bruin on this fine morning. We are only four days away from the UCLA football team taking on the Arizona State Sun Devils at the Rose Bowl. Go Bruins!
