UCLA Bruins graduate transfer tackle Justin Murphy will be back for another season. That’s because the NCAA has granted his petition for a sixth year of eligibility, according to Murphy’s Twitter account.
I am extremely grateful to the @NCAA for granting me a 6th year of eligibility!

None of this could've been possible if it weren't for the amazing job done at @UCLACompliance. Thank you for everything y'all do over there, it doesn't go unnoticed!
This is certainly a shot to the arm for the UCLA offensive line which flourished this past season and Murphy’s leadership was one of the reasons the line played as well as it did.
Now, of course, the key will be to make sure that Murphy stays healthy all season next year which proved to be difficult this year. In fact, it looked like Murphy’s career at UCLA could be extremely short when he had knee surgery on October 24th. In a tweet that morning, Murphy seemed to imply that his season was over.
Hey @NCAA, I've played in 3 football season and had 3 knee surgeries ending them short. Any chance I can get another year? pic.twitter.com/NknH26kB4M

Well, the good news was that Murphy was able to recover from this year’s knee surgery quick enough to return to play in the final two games. Now, he’ll have an opportunity to play again next season and bring his experience and leadership to another year of Bruin football.
Congratulations, Justin!
Go Bruins!!!
