Southern Cal Coaching Search: Petersen, Sumlin Staying Away From Trojans; Sarkisian & Franklin on Deck

USC coaching search enters into desperation phase as another top target stays away from the Trojans who are now pursuing over-hyped Steve Sarkisian and unproven James Franklin to take over a program in shambles.

Sumlin wants nothing to do with Southern Cal. It looks like Chris Petersen wants to stay away from Pat Haden's hot mess too. Trojans are not chatting up with Steve Sarkisian and eying James Franklin:

Washington coach Steve Sarkisian interviewed with USC athletic director Pat Haden this past weekend about the Trojans' head-coach opening, a source said.

Vanderbilt's James Franklin is also a candidate in a search that may be completed by the middle of this week, according to sources.

Sarkisian, speaking to KJR-Radio in Seattle on Monday, confirmed he talked to Haden over the weekend but said he wouldn't call it an interview. He said USC isn't that far along in the process with him yet.

According to the same report Petersen was a "top candidate" but backed out event hough Petersen and Trojans ad "mutual interest." Yeah right. Looks like Chianti Dan is advising Haden through this hiring process.

For those who want to fall for the nonsense about Mora being interested in the Washington, ask your self this - would Mora really be interested in going somewhere else when he just fired his running backs's coach? Discuss.
