UCLA's Noel Mazzone: I Just Call Plays

Noel Mazzone made some interesting comments about player rotation today after practice:

He basically said that he doesn't really worry about who is in their making plays. He says that he doesn't know who is in there half the time and that every time he notices someone is in there when the player screws up. He gave that response while answering a question about running back rotation due to Nate Starks getting dinged up against Washington.

This leads to few questions:

  • Whose responsibility is it to notice that certain walk-ons are not performing as well as receivers as guys like Kenny Walker or Mossi Johnson?
  • Isn't it on Mazzone to suggest to WR coach that we should have guys like Walker or Mossi in there instead of giving reps to Tyler Scott or Logan Sweet?
