After sitting out the first two rounds of the Pac-12 Tournament, the top-seeded Bruins return to action today when they meet fourth-seeded Stanford in the semifinals. Stanford advanced to the semis by sweeping #35 Oregon in the tourney quarterfinals.

This will be the third meeting of the season between the Bruins and the Cardinal. UCLA eked out a 4-3 victory in the first encounter nearly two months ago. Three weeks ago the teams met for a second time with the Bruins claiming a far more comfortable 4-1 win.

UCLA earned the tournament's #1 seed by winning the Pac-12 regular season title with a perfect 7-0 record including a 4-2 win over #8 Southern Cal in the regular season finale. The Cardinal finished the season with a 4-3 mark in the Pac-12, with losses against UCLA, USC, and #16 California.

The Cardinal may not have an elite team in 2016, but they have one of the nation's top singles players in 12th-ranked Tom Fawcett. He'll undoubtedly be tenth-ranked Mackenzie McDonald's opponent on court 1 today. Stanford's only other ranked singles player, David Wilczynski, currently #77 in the ITA rankings, will probably be matched against Martin Redlicki (#42) on court 2.

The rest of the singles pairings are a little less certain. UCLA's Gage Brymer, ranked 55th, will likely face freshman Michael Genender on court 3, while #92 Karue Sell will probably battle Stanford's Nolan Paige on court 4.

If Coach Billy Martin goes with the same setup he used against the Trojans, then sophomore Logan Staggs will play on court 5 and junior Joseph Di Giulio will be on court 6. Their likely opponents will be freshman Sameer Kumar (court 5) and junior Brandon Sutter (court 6).

Doubles will start with a matchup between the fifth-ranked pair of McDonald/Redlicki and the 39th-ranked duo of Fawcett/Maciek Romanowicz. The other two Stanford pairs are Paige/Wilczynski and Yale Goldberg/Kumar. UCLA will counter with Di Giulio/Sell and Maxime Cressy/Austin Rapp.

The winner of today's semi will advance to the tournament championship match to play the winner of USC and Cal. The final will be played tomorrow evening and will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
