Women’s Volleyball

The UCLA Women’s Volleyball team’s 2017 recruiting class has been rated 3rd in the nation by VolleyballMag.com. UCLA’s incoming class consists of libero Anne Crouch, setter Katie Jacobs, outside hitter Alexis Light, outside hitter Mac May, outside hitter Jenny Mosser, middle blocker Emily Ryan and middle blocker Sabrina Smith.

This is the second Top Ten class in a row for UCLA and head coach Michael Sealy. UCLA’s 2016 recruiting class, which included Torrey Van Winden, was ranked 6th.

In addition to the incoming freshmen, UCLA also has outside hitter Sarah Sponcil transferring from Loyola Marymount.

Now, it’s up to Coach Sealy and his staff to develop the team’s talent into a national champion.

Women’s Rowing

Junior Jasmine English and sophomore Lanea Tuiasosopo have earned National Scholar-Athlete Honors from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. It’s the second straight honor for English and the first time for Tuiasosopo.

Tuiasosopo is the daughter of former UCLA football coach Mike Tuiasosopo and her father’s cousin Marques served as UCLA quarterbacks coach this past season.

Student-athletes must be in their second, third or fourth year of eligibility to be named a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete. To be selected, student-athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher while participating in at least 75 percent of their rowing team's spring competitions.
