After a rough Sunday, the UCLA Women’s Golf team rebounded with a solid performance during yesterday’s final round of stroke play.
The Bruins started the day eight strokes behind Alabama, yet UCLA was able to close that gap to tie the Crimson Tide for the top spot. Both teams finished the round at 9-over 1161.
Because UCLA’s fifth golfer Clare Legaspi whose four-day total of 304 was lower than Alabama’s fifth golfer Lakareber Abe whose four-day total of 314, the Bruins head into the match play portion of the tournament with the top seed.
Overall, UCLA shot a 3-over 291 for the day. The Bruins were again led by Mariel Galdiano who shot a 1-under 71. That allowed Galdiano to finish at a 1-under 287 for all four rounds and it puts her in a tie for seventh place overall.
Lilia Vu wrapped up the final round with a par 72. She tied Galdiano and 3 others with a 1-under 287 for all four rounds.
Freshman Patty Tavatanakit shot a 2-over 74 in the final round which allowed her to finish tied for 19th overall with a 3-over 291.
Beth Wu finished tied for 38th place overall after shooting a 2-over 74 yesterday, Wu’s four-day score was an 8-over 296.
Legaspi finished tied for 60th after shooting a 2-over 74 yesterday.
