The UCLA men’s golf team opened play at the NCAA Pullman Regional in Pullman, Washington yesterday. After the completion of the first of three rounds, the Bruins are tied for sixth place and they are just two strokes behind fifth place Michigan State and six strokes off the pace set by Texas A&M, which is leading the field.
Unlike the women’s regional competition from last week where the top six teams after three rounds advance to the NCAA Championships, in the men’s regionals only the top five teams advance.
Yesterday, the Bruins shot a 5-under 275.
UCLA was led yesterday by senior Cole Madey. Madey finished yesterday tied for ninth overall with a 3-under 70.
Senior Patrick Murphy and junior Hidetoshi Yoshihara are tied for 23rd overall. Both played shot a 1-under 69 during yesterday’s round. Sophomores Devon Bling and Eddie Lai wrapped up the first day with a par 70 and 1-over 71, respectively.
Second round play was scheduled to begin at 7:30 am PT this morning and UCLA is schedule to tee off at 8 am PT.
