Yesterday, the Bruins easily defeated Northern Arizona, 4-0, to advance to the second round of the NCAA Women’s Tennis Tournament today against the LSU Tigers at 1 pm PT.
UCLA started off by winning the doubles point. On court three, Abi Altick and Taylor Johnson defeated Emilie Haakansson and Madi Moore, 6-0. NAU picked up a doubles win on court two when Hanneke Lodewijks and Ellie Millard defeated Elysia Bolton and Jada Hart, 6-1. That meant the doubles point would be decided on court one. Gabby Andrews and Ayan Broomfield were able to outlast Adrianna Sosnowska and Chiara Tomasetti, 7-5.
As the match moved to singles, the Bruins didn’t lose a set. UCLA scored their first singles point on court four where Alaina Miller defeated Sosnowska, 6-4, 6-1, while their second point came on court one where Hart beat Tomasetti, 6-3, 6-0. Broomfield closed out the match by beating Millard, 6-1, 6-3.
This afternoon, the Bruins will face the LSU Tigers in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at 1 pm PT. LSU advanced yesterday with a 4-2 win over San Diego.
