Another Humiliating Recruiting Loss for Steve Alford: Elite PG Prospect Josh Perkins Rejects UCLA

Steve Alford (and Dan Guerrero’s lifeless UCLA basketball program) suffers another humiliating loss on the recruiting trail.

Dan Guerrero's 18 million dollar basketball coach has been striking out the recruiting trail since coming over to Westwood.

And Steve Alford strikes out the trail again:

That's Josh Perkins -a 4 star PG who Alford and his staff wasted time and resources recruiting since his arrival in Westwood. Instead of going all out and putting on a full court press for a local elite PG recruit like Jordan McLaughlin, who was probably looking for a reason to commit to UCLA, Alford went after Perkins pretty hard - only to lose out Gonzaga. Losing out for a PG prospect is not something new for Alford in his short stint to date at UCLA. Alford who has been whining to the press about being "fatigued and irritated" by recruiting has already lost to Steve Lavin (yes Lavin) for a PG target since arriving in Westwood.

The PG recruiting couldn't be more uncertain for the Bruins right now. Right now McLaughlin has an "official visit" scheduled for UCLA sometime this fall, but it's unclear if the Bruins are leading for him. Alford has also been spending resources on recruiting non-local kids like Quintin Snyder who is not a lock for the Bruins either.

So far the Alford era has been off to a disastrous start not only off the court but also on the recruiting trail for UCLA. There is no one else to blame but the worst AD in America who made a desperate and pathetic hire, killing passion and interest in the program that Coach Wooden built.

GO BRUINS.
