BOOM! Football never sleeps.

The UCLA Bruins received a commitment tonight from 3* RB Bolu Olorunfumni from Clovis North HS in Fresno.

At 5-10 (or 6-0) and 216, Olorunfunmi fills the need for a big body with good speed who can handle short yardage situations as well as passing routes out of the backfield.  He looks to have good all around skills and could mesh well with Noel Mazzone's offense.   Bolu already has offers from several schools including Fresno St and Oregon St and has gotten interest from schools like Nebraska and Oklahoma.

You can see his Rivals profile here and Scout profile here (note that Bolu is 2 inches taller on Scout - lol, love those recruiting sites).  You can see his junior year highlights here.  As those highlights are on Hudl, I can't embed them, so here's one clip from his junior year that's available on YouTube.

His highlight page lists a nice 4.5 time in the 40, and his films show an ability to break the long run as well as some nice hands on short passing routes.  With the addition of Kennedy Polamalu to the Bruins' coaching staff, this signing may give an indication of what kind of back Polamalu is looking for with his RB crew for the upcoming years.

We have discussed recently that the Bruins don't have a ton of scholarships for next season, with a number somewhere between 12 and 18-20, depending on a variety of things that may happen between now and LOI day 2015, and the Bruins 2015 class already has a commitment from 4* athlete/RB Jaason Lewis, so it's interesting the Bruins would offer up one of their rare scholies for another RB, particularly when they have areas of greater need.  Also, while it's a deep class of recruits on the West coast, RB is one area that isn't loaded.  But there is always a lot of flux in commitments made this early in the recruiting year, so we'll see how this one plays out.

As for me, any student-athlete that wants to be a Bruin is welcome in my book, so let's welcome Bolu to Westwood.

Go Bruins!!
