The Bruins defensive backfield has seen a lot of improvement in the last couple years, and now they are getting looks from all parts of the country. DB Coach Demetrice Martin and Head Coach Jim Mora won over another recruit from the state of Texas tonight when cornerback/safety William Lockett from Manvel HS announced he would attend UCLA

— Will Lockett!!! (@willdoesit__) August 8, 2014
You can see Lockett's profile on Rivals and Scout where he is listed at the #70 CB in the country. Lockett already has 15 offers including schools like Michigan State, Oregon State and Washington, but his final two appeared to be UCLA and Missouri. Lockett had an unofficial visit to UCLA in June and the impression stuck. His hometown of Manvel is just south of Houston, so Lockett can already look forward to a college free of stifling humidity and fire ants. He'll join fellow Texan OL Bryce English for the move out west.
There isn't a lot of video out there that isn't behind firewall to share, but we'll keep looking for you. In the meantime, you can see Lockett in the play below showing some heavy run support from his corner position.
Lockett is featured with 2 of his teammates in the video below in preparation for his upcoming senior season (in front of the battleship USS Texas near San Jacinto battlefield, btw)
Lockett can play both safety and corner, so Coach Meat will have options with Lockett in the defensive backfield. He becomes the Bruins' 14th commitment for the 2014 class, though nothing is set until NLI day in February. So, until then, we will wish Will and his Marvel teammates a great 2014 season and we look forward to him joining the Bruins next season.
Welcome to Westwood, William!
