BOOM! UCLA Gets Commit from 4* WR Theo Howard

UCLA gets a commitment from one of the top wide outs in the state and may have finally found their big play receiver.

Student Sports

This is a big one, Bruins!

U.C.L.A. landed a big time playmaker today when 4* WR Theo Howard from Westlake HS in Westlake Village committed to the Bruins.

Howard had 26 offers from schools like Michigan, Oklahoma, TCU and Notre Dame, as well as 11 of the Pac-12 schools including Southern Cal (Boom!). Howard had originally committed to Oregon back in the spring before reopening his recruitment in mid August. Since then, Southern Cal and UCLA were considered the favorites due to the proximity to home, but recent visits to Texas A&M and Notre Dame kept observers guessing.

Howard is 6-0 and 174 is ranked the #5 WR in the state by Rivals, and the #2 WR in the state by Scout. And he is freaking fast.

Check out his mid-senior year highlight video below.

And Howard's junior year highlight video is below.

I think I can sum up those highlights here in a word. Wow.

While U.C.L.A. has had a plethora of very good reliable receivers in recent years, Howard could be that elusive big play speedster that the Bruins' offense has been missing. No doubt Josh Rosen will be happy to see someone like Howard who can take the top off a defense. The dude has incredible acceleration and makes great adjustments to the ball, then he just tears through defenders with great speed and smooth cuts. A player like Howard adds a dynamic that the Bruin passing game just hasn't had before.

Now, let's hope Coach Yarber and the rest of the Bruins coaching staff can keep this young man in the fold for another couple months. Howard plans on being an early enrollee, so we might not have to sweat this one out all the way until LOI day.

Welcome to Westwood, Theo!

GO BRUINS!!
