BOOM! The U.C.L.A. Bruins just got a commitment from the top middle linebacker in the nation.
Roquan Smith, a 4* MLB from Macon County HS in Montezuma GA announced this morning on ESPNU that he's going to be a Bruin!
Four-star linebacker Roquan Smith, the No. 77 player overall in the nation, has announced his commitment to #UCLA.

Smith's recruitment has been cyclical. The Bruins were the first D1 program to offer him, yet seemed to trail up until a late visit out to Westwood wrapped him up. This was a back and forth battle between U.C.L.A. and Georgia, with most pundits favorite in state Georgia until the end. Quite honestly, Smith fills a huge need and should have an opportunity to show his ability early.
Smith is ranked 4* by Rivals, Scout, and 247, and Scout ranks him as the top MLB in the country. He is listed at 6-2 and 210 and runs a 4.5 40 yard dash. You can see his Rivals profile here, his Scout profile here, and his 247 profile here.
While Smith may not be the biggest MLB around, he looks like he'll be able to add weight fairly easily and runs extremely well. He also played RB in high school. We happen to have another linebacker native to Georgia that plays both ways.
I'll leave you with Smith's junior highlights from Hudl.
Go Bruins!
