The Bruins score again, getting an excellent athlete from San Bernadino.

BOOM!  UCLA just received a commitment from 3* Athlete Nathan Meadors from San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino.  Nathan made his announcement this afternoon on Fox Sports Prime Ticket.

Nathan has long been a Bruin lean, but Notre Dame was also in the hunt for his skills. Nate also received offers from Washington, Oregon State, Colorado, Wassu, and Boise State.   In high school, Nathan was a fast and mobile dual threat quarterback and safety.  At UCLA he will join the talented DB corps and might also get some time on offense and on returns.  Coach Martin was his primary recruiter.

Meaders, ranked 3* by Rivals and Scout, and 4* by 247, flew under the radar for a long time, but in the last few months his stock has risen quickly.  You can see his Rivals profile here, his Scout profile here, and his 247 profile here.

As you can see in the video below, Nathan is an amazing runner, with both speed and the ability to change directions.  From Son Of A Coach, commenting on Meadors' hudl video:

Meadors is a fluid athlete that has outstanding speed.

The main thing that stands out about Meadors is speed. He is fast enough to run away from people with the ball in his hands and also has awesome recovery speed on defense. There were a few times where players looked like they were taking it to the house and he was able to run them down.

His acceleration is outstanding. He is able to drops his hips, plant, and explode to the football where he has decent enough ball skills to make a play and is physical enough to lay a big hit. His ability to open up and change directions and not lose speed is very good. He shows he can flip his hips and run in man coverage.

He’s an aggressive tackler that doesn’t catch. He hits through and wraps up on contact. He takes good angles in run support and doesn’t wait for the ball to come to him. He will attack the ball carrier.

But why not see for yourself.  Nathan's hudl video:

Nathan also gets really high marks for his skill set.  From 247:

  • Size: 6 out of 10
  • Speed: 9
  • Athleticism:  8
  • Explosiveness:  9
  • Change of Direction:  8
  • Versatility:  8
  • Ball Skills:  7
  • Intangibles:  8
Welcome to Westwood Nathan.  May you have great success in all things, on and off the field, at UCLA.

Go Bruins!
