It’s tough to argue that picking up a commitment from a JUCO transfer offensive tackle is a pretty good way to start the week.
And, that’s exactly what has happened this morning as Ronald Rudd III (RR3, anyone?) announced that he is committing to UCLA’s 2017 recruiting class.
Rudd currently attends Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga.
By all indications, he appears to be one very big offensive lineman and, as our good friend gbruin has been known to say, "Line wins games." Rudd is 6’7" tall and weighs in at 317 lbs, but he’s also quick. He runs a 4.90 40-yard dash. For someone with his size to be able to do that is impressive.
RR3 made his announcement this morning on Twitter. He wrote:
Let me start by thanking God for all the offers I have received. It was truly a blessing to be offered a scholarship to play football at any of the Universities recruiting me. Next I will like to thank my parents, family, friends and all my teammates for all the support that you guys always show me. And finally I will like to thank coach Hadaway and the entire Chaffey College coaching staff with a special thank you to the best Offensive Lineman coach in all of JUCO football, coach Kiyoshi Harris. Coach you brought me a long way in a short time and I am truly blessed to have you as MY coach. Now with that being said after discussing it with my parents I’ve decided that I will continue my collegiate career at the University of California Los Angeles where I truly feel, it is the best fit for me. I like to thank all the coaches that were recruiting me and I wish you all the best of luck in the future. #UCLA #8CLAP #BRUINS #PAC12
Here’s his actual tweet:
He looks like the kind of guy we need protecting Josh Rosen’s blind side!
Welcome to Westwood, RR3!
