UCLA Football picked up another commitment this morning when 3-star DE Odua Isibor from St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix (AZ) committed to the Bruins. Isibor’s announcement came via Twitter:

According to Isibor’s Hudl page, he is listed at 6’5” and weighs 230 lbs. Scout.com lists him as the #10 DE prospect in the West, and the #2 DE in the state of Arizona for this cycle. Isibor held offers from multiple schools, including Arizona State, Texas A&M, and USC, but according to an article from Blair Angelo on his decision (not behind firewall), Isibor called UCLA his “dream school”:

Isibor aspires to be a doctor or in the medical field, so UCLA was very appealing to him. He said: "It's one of the best medical programs in the country. I was thinking about a specific medical field to begin with but after talking with some of the specialists they have at the UCLA hospital I think it's better for me to keep my options open to all opportunities that might pop up but I'm still definitely thinking medicine at this point."

There were some other factors about UCLA that sold him, too. "I definitely like the culture they have built there," Isibor said. "It's in a good location and close for my parents to see my games. Good weather obviously and it's always been a dream school, I would say."

The UCLA staff, which has the luxury of an already-loaded defensive class including the #2 prospect in the nation in DE Jaelen Phillips, seemed to prioritize Isibor in recent weeks, with the commitment and subsequent decommitment of My-King Johnson as an indicator.

Welcome to Westwood, Odua!

Go Bruins!
