Late yesterday, UCLA received an Easter Sunday commitment from 4-star DB Cam’ron Jones from Mansfield HS in Mansfield, TX.

Jones tweeted out the announcement.

In the text portion of the tweet, Jones writes:

I’m extremely blessed from the man above to even be in the situation that I’m in, but I’m also blessed with the most wonderful people in my life. I have the most loving and supportive mother and I’ve had multiple great coaches in the process which has made this decision easier. With a lot of thinking and praying, I have decided to commit to THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA LOS ANGELES. #Gobruins #8clap

Jones explained his commitment to 247Sports, which quotes Jones:

I committed because it’s a great school. They have great resources. There is no excuse not to succeed. The education is second to none. The football program is great. Los Angeles is a great city to raise a family after college. Coach Demetrice is turning UCLA into a DBU. We talk pretty much every day. And it’s not just about football. We talk about life and what I want to major in. We have a great relationship.

Jones is a student-athlete with some size. He’s 6’ 1” tall and weighs 184 lbs. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.57 seconds and has a 37.2” vertical jump.

Jones may prove to be someone that UCLA will want to lock up in the new early signing period that passed last week. That’s because, last September, Jones committed to Texas Tech and decommitted two months later.

To his credit, Jones did tell 247Sports that he’s “solid with UCLA”, but he plans to continue to accept offers because “you never know what can happen.”

Her are his junior year highlights from Hudl.com.

Welcome to Westwood, Cam!
