Linebacker Jonathan Perkins from Summit HS in Fontana became UCLA’s latest 2019 commit yesterday when he decided to let the Bruin coaching staff know that he planned on accepting their scholarship offer.
Perkins then announced his decision on Twitter.
Perkins was originally offered a scholarship by UCLA back in February and he explained his decision to Scout’s Greg Biggins. He said:
I've always wanted to go to UCLA. Committing is something I've been thinking about doing for awhile now. I was on campus yesterday for the Elite Camp and everything just felt right to me. I love the coaching staff and the opportunity to play close to my friends and family was too much to pass up.
Biggins describes Perkins as a “tough, physical player with a nice edge to his game.”
After watching his sophomore year highlights, I like the fact that he looks like a multi-dimensional linebacker. Not only can he rush the passer, but he can also drop back into coverage and make a big play. Let’s look at those highlights from Hudl.
Welcome to Westwood, Jonathan!
