UCLA Football Recruiting: 2020 National Signing Day Live Tracker

Today looks to be anticlimactic after most recruits signed during the Early Signing Period.

While it’s always a great day to be a Bruin, National Signing Day has become anticlimactic. That’s because most recruits signed during the Early Signing Period in December.

As Chip Kelly has mentioned often, each school is limited to signing 25 recruits per year and the UCLA Bruins signed 18 recruits during the ESP. That leaves the Bruins with just seven spots left in this class.

At this point, five recruits and transfers have announced plans to come to UCLA. Assuming all five sign, that will leave the Bruins with just two spots left.

UCLA was hoping to land linebacker Bodie Schoonover from American Fork HS in Utah with one of those spots, but Schoonover signed with BYU this morning.

At this point, we’ll have to wait and see if there are any positive surprises for the Bruins. It doesn’t look very likely unless the Bruins lose one of their two remaining unsigned high school recruits.

Let’s look at where things stand.

The UCLA Bruins’ current commitment list looks like this:

Overall, this class is slightly better than last year’s class, but that’s only because last year’s class was so bad. It’s disturbing to watch Kelly continue to be unable to bring in top recruits. When combined with the more than 70 departures of players under Kelly, it’s no surprise why Kelly’s record in two seasons is 7-17. Unfortunately, this year’s class doesn’t look like it’s going to be able to help reverse that trend any time soon.

But, today is about celebrating the new Bruins. So, let’s focus on the kids who have made the decision to come to the greatest university in the nation.

And, as I was wrapping this up, the NLIs for Jake Newman and Jonathan Vaughns have been received, giving UCLA 20 signees and leaving just the three transfers and two open spots.

We will be updating this list throughout the day. So, feel free to leave this page open and periodically refresh the tab.

Join us today as we welcome the new Bruins to Westwood!
